Store Closing - Final Day January 10th 2026

2025 has been a year of change for The Thrifty Laker.
We reduced our hours, refreshed the layout and shopping experience, and—regrettably—were no longer able to offer some of our most loved services.

This year also brought significant and unexpected changes in my personal life—changes that have altered the future of the shop. I had hoped that by next fall, with both kids in school, I would have more time to devote to the business. Unfortunately, that will no longer be the case. I have taken on a new and very important role in their lives, and I can no longer effectively juggle my time.

The shop—and this incredible community—deserve far more time and energy than I am able to give right now. With that, I have made the difficult decision to close this chapter of The Thrifty Laker, with our final day being Saturday, January 10th, 2026.

The past 3.5 years have been truly special. This community came together to turn a small dream into a meaningful reality. Together, we were able to support so many individuals and organizations, and along the way I met some truly amazing people—many of whom became dear friends.

The Thrifty Laker will forever hold a place in my heart. If there is a community member with the space and vision to take over the shop and bring it to the next level, please reach out—I would be happy to discuss a potential takeover privately.

Final shopping days:

• Thursday, January 8th: 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM

• Saturday, January 10th: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

We will be holding a bag sale—everything you can fit into a grocery bag for $5.00.

If no one comes forward to continue the shop, all remaining inventory will be thoughtfully distributed throughout the surrounding community to organizations and other small thrift shops.

I am truly sorry to everyone this affects and deeply grateful to all who supported, shopped, volunteered, and believed in The Thrifty Laker.
